Meschac Gaba

Born in Cotonou, Benin, in 1961, he studied at the National Academy in Amsterdam and has worked as a professional artist since 1991.
He has to his credit many solo and group exhibitions in Africa, Europe and America. He has exhibited in Cotonou, Abidjan, Cairo, Milan, Paris, Amsterdam, Milwaukee, Bern, Ghent, and elsewhere. He has exhibited at the Venice Biennale, Documenta 11 in Kassel, and EXPO in Switzerland. In 2002 he received the AICA Award and the Will Grohmann Preis in Berlin.
