Enzo Cucchi

Born in Morro d'Alba (Ancona) in 1949, he held his first solo exhibition in Rome and in Milan in 1977, becoming popular due to the originality of his work compared to the prevailing trends in Italy at the end of the sixties. At the beginning of the eighties he often exhibited with Sandro Chia, Francesco Clemente, Nicola De Maria, Mimmo Paladino, prominent figures in the new wave of Italian art named trans avant-garde. He began to exhibit more and more frequently, working with the most prestigious museums, such as the Kunsthaus in Zurich (1982 and 1988), the Caja de Pensiones in Madrid (1985), the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris (1986), the Lenbachhaus in Munich (1987), the Kunsthalle in Hamburg (1991), the Museo d'arte contemporanea in Rivoli (1993), the Palazzo Reale in Milan (1995). He held solo exhibitions in Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sydney, Tampere, Toronto, Tokyo, Vancouver, and elsewhere. He has contributed to numerous civic collections, such as the permanent sculptures in Brülinger Park in Basel (1984), the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebaek, Copenhagen (1985), the fountain in the garden of the Museo Pecci in Prato, the Fontana d'Italia at the entrance to York University in Toronto (1993), and more still.
